[CLOSING DATE: Mon, 17 Oct 2016] Darland High School Headteacher : Mr Peter Agnew Teacher of Technology (Resistant Materials) MPS Full time permanent post - To start on 1st January 2017 The governors are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Technology specialist to teach in our innovative and highly successful Technology and Creative Arts Faculty. Darland High School is an 11-16 English medium comprehensive school with 850 students on roll, making us the largest school in Wrexham. Oversubscribed in Key Stage 3, the school has grown markedly in recent years. Serving a cluster of villages in between Wrexham and Chester, the school enjoys easy road and rail access to North West England and North Wales. The school has a reputation for academic excellence, achieving results at both key stages, which are consistently above both local and national averages. We have close relations with the local community as well as with neighbouring schools, with whom there is a spirit of active curriculum collaboration. The Technology faculty is renowned for excellent results at KS4, with most students choosing to follow one of the following courses currently offered: resistant materials, art & design, photography, child care, food, textiles. In recent years, the faculty has significantly raised standards at KS3, with level 6s and 7s among the best in Wrexham. The technology faculty comprises five members: two teachers of art, one each of textiles, food and resistant materials. The faculty coordinator is an art teacher who also teaches technology. All teaching in the faculty takes place in a modern suite of workshops and studios. There has been considerable investment in recent years in CAD / CAM facilities and ICT. The philosophy of the faculty is to expose students to as broad an experience in design and manufacture and consequently a wide range materials and production techniques including metal casting and 3D printing. All faculty members have their own iPad and laptop and share a large and well appointed faculty staffroom. If you have a passion for design and a gift for communicating ideas and igniting the creative spark in young people, we would love to hear from you. Ideally we are looking for a specialist in resistant materials, but suitably qualified applicants with a background in technology, especially ICT, should not be deterred from applying.
