[CLOSING DATE: Fri, 13 Sep 2019] Planning & Regulatory Department PUBLIC PROTECTION OFFICER (Food & Farming) G10 (£32,878-£35,934) 37 hours per week Situated on the North East Wales border Wrexham is a progressive local authority and a good place to work. The town has a vibrant centre and is surrounded by rural villages. Wrexham has easy access to the Welsh hills and coastal resorts and the cities of North West England. The post will be based within the Public Protection service. The Council is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated Public Protection Officer with practical experience of Food Safety, Food Standards & Health & Safety. The successful applicant will need to undertake a broad range of food hygiene and food standards inspections and take the lead with the inspection of registered skin piercing establishments. Day to day work will include inspections of food premises, dealing with cases of infectious disease and investigating complaints. The successful applicant would also need to take the lead in dealing with our registered skin piercing establishments. Knowledge on serving notices and preparing case files for prosecution is essential. You may also be required to work in other specialist disciplines of the section as and when the need arises. The Food & Farming Team encompasses environmental health functions of Food Safety, Food Standards, and Infectious Disease Control that forms part of the public protection service of the council. The successful applicant will hold a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health or a Diploma in Environmental Health or recognised equivalent, and must have EHORB Registration or equivalent. The ability to speak Welsh is desirable. The Council will support your continued professional development and encourage you to play a key role in the future development of the service.
