[CLOSING DATE: Tue, 07 Mar 2017] Darland High School Headteacher : Mr Peter Agnew Permanent Part-time Teacher of English, 0.4 fte Main Pay Schale start 1st September 2017 or earlier if possible The governors of Darland High School are looking to appoint a passionate teacher of English to join our Faculty of English and Communication. You will join a high performing team, who have experienced significant improvement in both KS3 and KS4 outcomes since 2009. Darland High School is an 11-16 English medium comprehensive school with 850 students on roll. Serving a cluster of villages in between Wrexham and Chester, the school enjoys easy road and rail access to North West England and North Wales. The school has a reputation for academic excellence, achieving results at both key stages, which are consistently above both local and national averages. Our Year 11 in 2016 achieved the best ever results in the school’s history with 73% achieving at least 5 good GCSEs with English and Maths. We have close relations with the local community as well as with neighbouring schools, with whom there is a spirit of active curriculum collaboration. The school is set in extensive landscaped grounds and has benefitted from a major rebuilding programme, which saw new science block open in 2011 and the English move in to a new suite of classrooms in the main building. As a result of the improvements in the school, we are oversubscribed in most years. The post is designed as a job share with a member of the English Faculty who will be returning from maternity leave in May and who wishes to reduce to a 0.6 timetable. The post will suit new entrants to the profession as well as a more experienced practitioner. What is important is that you have a passion for communicating your love of English language and literature to highly motivated and enthusiastic students. Further details are available from the school on request. Applications must be received by midday on Monday 13th February 2017. Interviews will be shortly afterwards. This post is subject to Education Workforce Council Registration.
