[CLOSING DATE: Fri, 02 Jun 2017] The Authority utilises a multi-platform environment primarily utilising Windows networks to run applications across Oracle and SQL Server Databases. There are approximately 200 business applications, on-premise & hosted, supporting 2,500 users and the borough’s citizens.
An Analyst/Programmer is required with at least 3 years relevant experience. They will provide support for 3rd party business systems including procurement, supplier engagement, implementation and integration with other related business solutions. They will engage with business systems teams in directorates and with suppliers to ensure that the council is achieving value for money through its investment in 3rd party business systems. Responsibilities will include systems design, programming, package implementation and application support using Microsoft Access, Visual Basic and .Net framework to manipulate SQL Server and Oracle databases. Knowledge of Cobol is beneficial. Web development & task automation experience would be an advantage. Experience of migration of on-site applications to ‘Cloud’ platforms (e.g. Azure) will be an advantage as will SaaS, IaaS & PaaS knowledge.
The post holder will take responsibility and accountability for their own performance in relation to analysis and development of business systems along with support in terms of, systems design, and systems testing. They will work on a range of advanced tasks both individually and as part of a team and will be expected to lead complex projects relating to their specific area of expertise.
An HND in Computing or related subjects is required and Local Government experience would be advantageous.
