[CLOSING DATE: Mon, 1 Oct 2018] 37 hours fixed term to 31 March 2021 An opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Data Protection Officer to work in the Information Governance section supporting Children’s Services. This is a new position and will be the Statutory Officer under Article 37 of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 for schools under an SLA with Wrexham County Borough Council. The Council is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to establish this new service for schools. The postholder will work alongside schools to ensure that they comply with their statutory obligations under the Regulation and ensure compliance with data protection legislation. Educated to degree standard or with equivalent relevant qualifications, the successful applicant will have excellent communication skills and a good knowledge of both Education and Data Protection Legislation and will have the confidence to communicate information to a wide range of stakeholders. Applicants should hold or have the ability and commitment to achieve a formal qualification in data protection.
