The team’s purpose is to recruit, train and supervise sufficient foster carers to meet the identified placement needs of looked after children within Wrexham County Borough. The team recruits, assesses, trains, (through the Qualification Credit Framework - QCF), supports and supervises foster carers. We match looked after children to foster carers with the aim of matching the most suitable carers to the needs of the child. The Substance Misuse service is a multi-agency service incorporating Health, Social Care and third sector organisations and is managed by a Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board manager. This is a supportive environment with an enthusiastic and motivated team of both social workers and nurses. The team also has other specialist workers linked to the team, specialist midwife, Hepatology Nurse and Harm reduction team. The successful candidate will have a wide range of experience and knowledge within the social work field and it is desirable that the post holder has some experience of working with adults who have substance misuse and mental health issues. Experience of Multidisciplinary working would be an advantage. The post holder will also work alongside a range of Community based Recovery services to promote the health and wellbeing of individuals, their families and carers. The Substance Misuse Service works closely with partners agencies to support and promote timely and appropriate interventions for those service users to ensure they have every opportunity to remain independent and socially included within their Community. A broad understanding of treatment and recovery interventions is beneficial. The post holder will hold a mixed caseload of both alcohol and drug clients in line with service needs. The ability to demonstrate an understanding of legislation and guidelines in relation to the Substance Misuse Service is essential.
